Tough one for Kimiko Date in finale

It wasn’t the way Kimiko Date wanted to go out.

She made her last appearance in pro tennis Tuesday before a full house at the Tokyo International – and was double-bageled by Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia.

Krunic felt terribly about it.

“I don’t like that I had to be the one,” said Krunic, who bowed after the win. “I want to apologize that this was not the result you guys were all hoping for. When I’ll go to the locker probably I will cry but so far, I’m trying to stay tough.”
